I’m hoping the Mal pup isn’t from Fivehead in Taunton…well known person in this area who breeds various dogs and alot of them!!

But wherever he’s from enjoy him, i’m sure you will.

Are the hip scores etc written on your certificates ?
I have no idea who the person is you brought your lad off but if the certificates were the right ones for the right dogs it will be printed under the sire and dams name on his papers which you should have been given by the breeder

    Hiya Emelie,

Glad your enjoying your puppy, im sure hes adorable.

FYI the hipscore and eyetest results and dates will be printed under the names of your puppy’s sire & dam on your kennel club registration certificate  🙂

If the information is not there….its not been done  😉
I have heard stories of people being shown fake or homemade certificates and even hip xray pictures!

The eyetest certificate is a white form, signed, dated and stamped by an official BVA/KC Opthamologist stating that the named dog is Unaffected by H.C. (Hereditary Cataracts)

The hipscore certificate is a GREEN form, with details of the dog and score for both sides and total at the bottom. This again is completed, signed and dated by the BVA/KC panel.

    I hope everything is well

🙂 Hello I thought this topic was slowing down so thought I’d get posting, I’ve just been brought the most beautiful mal pup but the only problem is know very little about the breed so I’m searching the internet for help and advice, on:-

1/ Best methods to train and work a mal or even better training centre
2/ Best places for specialist Insurance
3/ anything else you think could help

I got to say I have completely fallen in love so want to make sure we make the most of time we have together  ;D

    Hiya Celticfox,

Sorry for the delay in replying to your post but i’ve only just noticed this thread 🙂

It is alittle concerning that you’ve been landed with a Malamute pup without knowing anything about the breed  😮  but hey ho, hes here so you better learn quick!

Malamute puppies are one of the cutest in the World, but dont let the good looks fool you.
This is a real working breed in every sense of the word and need lots of mental and physical stimulation, exercise and not least firm and consistant training.

    1) I highly recommend that you find a good local obedience class straight away 😉
    2) Malamutes are generally a very healthy breed so dont require specialist health insurance, however if you are planning to work you Malamute in the future you would benefit from specialist public liability insurance and this can be provided by http://www.nsdsc.org/Insurance.html or if you join the SHCGB http://www.siberianhuskyclub.com/ insurance comes with that.
3)Righty ho, any other helpful info….

The Alaskan Malamute Club Of The UK http://www.alaskanmalamute.org.uk/
will provide you with lots of reading material relating to the breed 🙂

And the Icebay Malamute Forum http://www.alaskanmalamute.org.uk/ will provide you with everything else!

    Best Wishes
    Jessie
