Money does not come into it the KC do not get a fee, it’s about dogs being fit and able to mate a bitch.
Which is even more important now that we have the KC Fit for Purpose.
Dogs should be able to mate the old fashioned way, as for slips, thats a poor excuse many a large litter has been born on a slip and some dogs slip mate all their lives and product pups
If anyone is making money it’s the person offering these services

Did you not read the link I put up to the KC rules on AI ???

    quote :

The General Committee will not normally accept an application to register an AI litter if the donor male is alive and domiciled in the United Kingdom, with one exception namely that Irish Wolfhounds of 8.5 years or older and domiciled in the UK can be used as donors in AI.
Maiden bitches – Litters produced by AI from bitches that have not previously produced a registered litter naturally may now be registered, but the Kennel Club will not register a litter produced by AI from one of her female progeny, unless the said progeny has already produced at least one registered litter naturally.

hey but at the end of the day we all no what the KC are about£££

thought this might be a good place to ask

when someone scans for pups is it common / possible to get the number wrong say three or four pups more than are actually born ?

It depends Claire on who is doing the scanning and how tight the pups are on beardies it’s easy to miscount as they tuck puppies up high as they are a long ribbed working breed.
My old vet could count the pups with his fingers better than dogs were being scanned, I can see the use of scanners being a good thing but if you can’t read a bitch you should not be breeding so therefore I see no use for a puppy counter  :ok:
