Yep and I think Izzy eats more than Buster, since his stroke he just cant do the long walks so he has to eat less, plus hes always been a fatty since he was castrated so we have to watch him there to  ::) poor noy always on a diet!

It’s suprising how little meat you actually need to feed – Bev showed me with the pigs head meat when she was down – I’ve been feeding too much until then!! It’s pure protein not the 80% moisture crap you’d get in a tin  ;D Then I add the veg, fruit and biscuit!!  🙂

Glad you said that Nat was sat here thinking maybe we are a bit stingy with how much meat Buster has. I guess we just go by what they look like they needs, works for us.

what you have to bear in mind is the moisture content of commercial founds – even if you look on the prize choice stuff ingredients list – you will see the protein content listed as around 17% and the rest is moisture – with some as high as in the 70% range

this means you are buying water

so when you do your own – it doesnt look that much until you add your stock or water etc…go on have a look on their site  😉 😉

and tell me how much you are paying for water  😉

Never mind storage bags for the freezer,  I’m gonna have to buy a freezer!  We’ve got a fridge freezer, but it simply isn’t big enough.  ;D

Anglican Meats 400g is about 68p (I think).  2k bag of chicken mince is £2.68 (I think).  Guidlines on the pack say 400g for medium breeds, so Murph gets 400g in two meals a day.  I read somewhere lately that for every 10k of weight of your dog you should feed 150 – 200g and if you have 1 handful of meat you add 2 handfuls of fruit and veg.

I’ve got a bid on Comet Clearance for another fridge/freezer to go outside  😉

but what is the moisture content jayne  😉

    #91765

Oo dunno, will check when I get home at dinner  😉

    #91766

    Just looked

    Minced meats moisture:
    Lamb 64%
    Chicken 71%
    Rabbit 80%
    Tripe 74%

The meat chunks seem to have a lower moisture content.

so in the chicken for example you are paying £1.90 for the water  😉
