Bev, what you think of Dancing Merenga Dog?  Does this seem like a huge amount of dog training to you?  It’s best dancing dog video I’ve seen–by far!!

mmm…i didnt like it…sorry…one of my real pet hates is dogs being dressed up…but apart from that the routine is far too intense for that breed.. too much up on hind leg action…the dog actually at around 1.40 sec… did go to put front legs down but was cued to continue…also felt the human wasnt strong enough to lift cleanly and carefully…in terms of training…there is little variation in the individual behaviours…so that sequence would have not been too difficult to put together…i assume the dog is exp and heel work to music and dance…

    sorry…you asked  😀

Bev, yes, def wanted your honest opinion…I didn’t think about Golden Retrievers & their hip problems…is this why too much time up on hind legs not good for her?  Could this cause physical problems for her down the road?  Def don’t believe in harming dogs for our amusement.

Have read several comments from DB members about not dressing up dogs, but have never read why.  Is that bad for dogs in some way if they don’t seem stressed or resistant when the person puts the clothing on?  I’ve never been interested in dress-up myself, but see this a lot in pet supply stores.  Do you think simple over-the-back “coats” are ok for cold weather walks for dogs who mostly live indoors?…and if not, why?  I have thought about this for Fraggle for long, cold, breezy walks…his fur single coated & not near as thick as Brady’s…would like your opinion on this. Thanks, Bev.

I personally don’t like dogs dressed up to look stupid, serviceable coat to keep of the rain or to keep them warm I don’t have a problem with, dressing them up like a toy :vomit:

if a dog is sick, recovering from surgery/illness etc…or is out of natural genetic environment and really feels the cold then coats …fine…
anything else…especially stupid anthropomorphic costumes or whatever…takes away a dog’s dignity and status…for thousands of years humans and dogs have had a mutualistic symbiotic relationship based on respect and trust…then some prat comes along and invents a tutu for a dog….makes my blood boil… :vomit: :vomit:

i think re the dance….that that routine is not balanced for any dog….but for a dog of that size/bone mass to be up on hind legs all that time is dire…dogs hips are not designed to allow the dog to walk on hind legs for that length of time…even good hips…if you look at real prof. HTM people…like mary ray….then the routines are planned for all muscles/ligaments/bones/joints/ to be used /rested/ etc …that routine is too much…it not varied enough…the dog is struggling…i did a HTM routine with ami…would have loved to have got her up in a stand like that…even for a second…she a clumber…wouldnt do that to her…but yeah…if i had asked she would have…guess what i am saying is dogs will go miles to please their person…they will look if they enjoying it too….at times that dog doesnt look like that at all…felt quite sorry for it really…

My oppinion? Teach your dog to stand up straight to you and give you kisses. Got that down? Now let him stand up to you and give you kisses for aslong as HE wants… The moment you feel him getting uncomphortable with standing up to you is just howlong he should be doing that for his own good. Am putting my money on it that no dog will last as long as the vid. No training or will to pls will change his anatomy. He not made to walk on 2 legs. Not that long. Dog will do for the reward, and will hide discomphort. So no, he will show no sign of disliking it until it waaaaay to much, and Godforbid.. Until too late…
