I’m not surprised.  I’ve had some involvement with a zoo in Hampshire and was shocked at their lack of general animal knowledge.  :-\

link wont work for me but just reading the title makes me shudder…poor animals 🙁 i’ve always hated zoo’s – did a debate in year 6 to ban then and won the votes plus an A* ;D

A Japanese zoo has finally discovered why their attempt to mate two polar bears failed, both are female.

The zoo in Hokkaido introduced newcomer Tsuyoshi to its resident bear, an 11-year-old female named Kurumi, and waited for sparks to fly.
