OK – I have a question…
If you have yellow lab bitch and mate it with a choc lab stud dog – what colour puppies do you get…
of course you’ll also need this info:
Yellow lab bitch has a black Lab mum and a yellow lab dad.
Choc lab stud dog apparently also carries yellow gene
Will the puppies mainly be yellow ???
cos I want a black one ;D
November 6, 2008 at 11:39 am #70686kizkiznobiteMemberthere is a thread on this widget…..
detailing it out…if you cannot find it then one of the others will look for you i am sure… 🙂
November 6, 2008 at 11:40 am #70687AnonymousGuestI’ve been hunting for it and I couldn’t find it :-[
I remember we did it before…
I just wondering what chance there are of black puppies really…. will keep hunting for it!
Have tried lots of combinations and I can’t find the right thread… found lots referring to it but no link :-\ – I remember you putting all the gene combinations down and then I worked out what genetics oki’s parents must have had – am cross i can’t find it 🙁

You could try the Exercise: the canine genetics lab and see if that helps any (if not, it’s still fun breeding virtual labradors ;D ).

I’ve tried searching using ‘genetics’ or ‘labrador coat’ or ‘colour genetics’ or ‘labrador colour’ or ‘labrador genetics’
am failing….

and Bev has done a post of all the combinations last one on page 2, so it depends on if mum is a bb or Bb , BB carrier (am sure i read when i was doing that bb carriers have brown noses and BB bB have black might be wrong tho) if she a bb there will all choc.
But i guess you told them you want a black puppy? so she must carry the black gene 🙂
November 6, 2008 at 4:29 pm #70695AnonymousGuestMum’s last litter were all black puppies… (and the sire was Pedro, another Choc – Loki’s dad)
This is why I ask….
The mum is Loki’s half sister (same breeder)
The dad is same breeder as Loki’s Dad – but different Dogso Lokis’s Dad is Pedro – but this mating is with Murphy:
http://www.grangemead-labradors.co.uk/pages/ourdogs.htmI have asked for full pedigrees to be emailed to me…
But I just wondered what the chance of black puppies was… cos I don’t want a yellow one 😀
November 6, 2008 at 5:01 pm #70696AnonymousGuestGracie – that is def the right link – so mum is
eeBB (although don’t understand why she isn’t black then ??? )
Dad must be:
EEbb or Eebb – am guessing Eebb – for him to be choc?
right or wrong ???
November 6, 2008 at 5:03 pm #70697AnonymousGuestEebb x eeBB 50% black 50% yellow pups
So – I might get a black one?

Need an E to be black if I remember correctly.
November 6, 2008 at 5:48 pm #70699AnonymousGuestBut E refers to the yellow gene… and B to black?
