if I remember right black has to have E and B, choc has to have E and b, yellow has to have e with either B or b. But that’s from memory so may have remembered wrong.

which would mean choc EEbb or Eebb, yellow eeBB eeBb or eebb (think it affects whether they have black or paler noses and pads re whether B or b). black EEBB EeBB EEBb EeBb

    I think.  :-\

    e  E yellow, B black b brown

ee is yellow dominant EE Ee are recessive in appreance
ee overrides everything including black BB 🙂
    BB Bb is black
    bb is brown

so dad could be either EEbb or Eebb

depends on if mum is eeBB or eeBb
    as
    mum x dad

eeBB x EEbb = all black

    eeBB x EeBb = yellow and black  50 / 50

    eeBb x EEbb black and brown 50 / 50

    eeBb x Eebb yellow black and brown  50 yellow/ 25 /25

wow i got that right just looked up the % on Bevs post

There will be at least 25% of black pups the only way there wouldnt be is if mum is eebb but if she produced black pups with choc dad before she must be either eeBB or eeBb

eebb eeBB eeBb are all yellow dogs as ee makes them yellow
Eebb EEbb are brown as bb is dom over Ee EE
EeBB EEBB EeBb EEBb are all black as B is dom over b and over EE Ee
    🙂

    That’s excellent Gracie  ;D

So basically – we know mum is

    eeBB

    (so def no choc puppies)

Dad could be:  EEbb or Eebb

    which means puppies either:

eeBB x EEbb = all black
so Dad must be Eebb – cos they are expecting some yellow:

    eeBB x Eebb = yellow and black  50 / 50  ;D

but 50 / 50 is only probability – so am guessing could be all yellow or all black?

So am confused why you know mum is eeBB not eeBb or eebb.  ??? is it cos she had a litter of all blacks – but was that to a black stud a choc stud or a yellow stud?  ???

I get EEbb x eeBB = all black
EEbb x eeBb = half choc half black
EEbb x eebb = all choc
Eebb x eeBB= half black half yellow
Eebb x eeBb= half black half yellow
Eebb x eebb = half choc half yellow.

sorry don’t know if that’s same as what’s been said, or even if i have done it right, brain can’t cope on too little sleep.

yep, i found some yellows appearing where i wasn’t expecting them when i redid it.  ;D

what i meant was E and B are the dominant genes , e and b are the recessives, therefore black is dominant colour. tho need both E and B for black. brain is dead today, sorry.  🙂

so possible pitter patter of tiny paws in march.  ;D

hope you are going to keep us updated with lots of baby pics from birth – important to have lots of pics, even if you’re not getting one.  ;D

no but E isnt domiant, nor is e really as EE Ee are recessive to black and brown but ee is top dog!! it overrides anything  🙂
