I know nothing about law whatsoever… can anyone tell me how I go about finding a lawyer\solicitor – or even which I need – that specialises in employment law? Thanks.

you could try calling acas for some advice? and also citizens advice may also hold a list of reputable solicitors … what advice you need will depend on your situation so you’ll need to speak to someone that knows a bit more like above.  but you’ll want a solicitor that deals in your specific area i.e. unfair dismissal

    hi,

if its unfair dismissal / illegal redundancy / being “managed out” – the easiest and cheapest thing to do is go to a “no win no fee” place and see if they’ll take your case – if they will then you’ve got a fair chance of winning, if not personally i’d forget it and move on as it could cost you megabucks.

    i also reccommend ACAS 🙂

many times its less emotionally damaging to move on – i did.

I have no idea why you want one, and do not need to know, this might be a good place to start; if you via a CAB they can usually arrange a free 30 min – 1 hour slot with a solicitor.

pffh !  when i last went they were totally useless so dont pin all your hopes but it might be a ‘first step’ usually you have to book.  the ppl there are only volunteers who work a computer system honestly most cases i bet you could get info easier off the net 🙁

When I had a problem with an employer our local CAB office was very good, they arranged a slot with their solicitor. Just because they are volunteers  doesn’t mean they are all useless.

i juess there are regional variations then 🙂

all mine did was sit and click a computer and print some sheets off.

most cabs have their own solicitor working for them and sometimes law students as this was a choice for good work experience when i was doing my law degree many many moons ago and if they don’t they should be able to get you a free intro session with a reputable local solicitor.

good luck hun hope you get sorted
