did cubert do what each time…you lost me… ;D
the above is what would happen the next time they meet…the post yesterday was re their initial greet…after that cubert just accepted his smell …with the bum sniffs… cubert turned them into a game and copied max’s response so if max stuck his nose up cubert’s bum cubert then also started to do the spin around and play bow ….that became their style of play…cubert doesnt do that with other dogs that want to greet him…he stands and allows the sniff and then does the return sniff…with girlies he does though…he does nose up bum girlie not like he spins and play bows…and then goes in for another go….until he picks up that actually she really does not like…then he plays and waits awhile and tries again ;D with a bit of foreplay…his version of foreplay is the nose butt to side of face like loki did in that vid i put up of him and ami….not very subtle 😀
was out with gunner and tegan the other day….tegan was having none of nose up fanny…she told him mildly a couple of times…he waited until he thought she had thought he had given up ;D she told him more firmly..with noise 😀 ami was lying down….shot up to go between them and gunner was keeping a close eye from a distance….he hasnt learnt the art of courtship but has learnt from ami that some girlies can thwack hard…but from inga that some girlies dont …he just pushes his luck….
it is all this stuff that max has missed out on…
April 3, 2009 at 8:42 am #72751deebeeMemberhe still is missing out really as hes such a heavy dog and blunders in, i have to judge who he can and cant meet. and its all on lead. no playing is happening after.
April 3, 2009 at 8:48 am #72752kizkiznobiteMemberyep i know…puppy brain big boy body and lots of learnt behaviour and catching up to do bless him…and he such a daft big love….
April 3, 2009 at 8:54 am #72753deebeeMemberstill seem to be stuck in a rut with it all.
hopefully the castration will have helped with it all re other dogs reaction. he still big clumsy elephant with them though bless him. long to see him do steady greet then play, seems impossible atm as at the rec they are all on lead. other place they all off and going loopy, i dont go there now.
April 3, 2009 at 9:00 am #72754kizkiznobiteMemberit will come in time :-*
April 3, 2009 at 9:06 am #72755deebeeMemberthink i need 50 stooge dogs and closed rec so they can individually be greeted then let play, that’ll do it! get it done in one fell swoop lol. i’ve had him 7 months now and we still pounding the streets, hardly ever let off, …………… i’m feeling we can do it if only i had the tools and the nouce (?)
April 3, 2009 at 10:15 am #72756AnonymousGuestI can offer Loki as stooge ;D Although he might not play…

April 3, 2009 at 2:35 pm #72758Justine&RafeMemberI’d love Max to meet Rafe – don’t know about the wisdom of it coz Rafe such a nut, but he’s always happy to play! And he doesn’t know how to be nasty!
We go on walks with quite an aggro chocolate lab every once in a while – he not well socialised and greets Rafe immediately up on his back legs and growly barking – Rafe will wrestle him back to stop him being able to hump him, but as soon as I call will come right over, and will more than happily ignore all the barking and growling. It has never escalated, and I always watch it quite closely, but Rafe doesn’t seem to get even ruffled by it.

[/quote]Have said before, always happy to help – just ask 😉
April 3, 2009 at 3:32 pm #72760aaah now i can definately agree – Rafe’s yer man when it comes to playing. never seen owt like it from an adult dog !!
if rafe was a bloke he’d be one of them all round happy bouncy guys who never gets unduly ruffled and is always happy for a bit of a kick about at the park, jumpers for goalposts that sorta thing 😉 if you want playing – rafe’s your man… never seen an adult dog play so much and for so long and with such an even style.

April 3, 2009 at 4:14 pm #72761kizkiznobiteMembernot sure max quite ready for rafe ;D
April 3, 2009 at 4:33 pm #72762oops … sorry – i kinda just meant that Rafe was “the man” for playing … i would go for someone a little more sedate to begin with 😉
April 3, 2009 at 5:30 pm #72763deebeeMemberthanks for the offers girls but i seem to live in an exclusion zone. no one is near me.
Izzie, it sounds like you got enough on your plate atm, though i would be interested def. perhaps go to your park? dunno.
it always seems to be the next dog hes interested in, thats why i said 50 dogs, get him fed up with ‘another bloody dog’i think max would give rafe a run for his money lol. not quite sedate, but another that knows what theyre doing.
April 3, 2009 at 5:56 pm #72764IzzieMemberAm happy to do it if it helps Max, you know that.
