Have been advised to have Trixie to be put to sleep  >:D >:D >:D

Stupid woman on another forum thinks that Trixie has no life whatsoever and should be pts- because she cant read posts properly  ::) :whatever:

Val, Trixie twisted herself yesterday after falling off dad’s lap and landing awkwardly, am wondering whether to go get a 2nd opinion from a vet who knows what they are doing?

ok will check in spam box…was waiting for it…

i dont and never have used rhus tox…but i think val has…

the best med pain control for hollie and her arthritis …as it got worse was actually aspirin…very low dose only as and when needed …like after doing something daft as falling off the sofa…maybe talk to vet about it?

st johns wort is what she got most of the time….

there are threads somewhere on here re hollie and her management routine …will have a search for them

    hi,

i think any dog who has a poor quality of life despite reasonable human efforts to address this should be put to sleep.  OK with some conditions they might be so serious or so advanced that immediate pts is the best decision for the dog but if there is reasonable chance of stabilising the dog and a continuing good quality of life then there is no reason why an owner shouldnt do everything reasonable to achieve that 🙂

in trixie’s case, she has 2 conditions which are successfully treated in many other dogs so theres no reason to believe that she wont regain a good quality of life (thats just my take on it anyway!).

Trixie has not got HD she has got the onset of arthritis which is easely managed.
I do use Rhus tox but not for something like slipping off the sofa it’s more useful when the pain is bad

is trixie the cat-like lap jumper ?  if so the fall might have been higher than a sofa Val 🙂

    Yes she is Claire

Val, she was sat on Dad’s lap in the garden, he lost his temper with me and pushed her off his lap as she was getting off, without thinking- she landed half twisted on the ground, as soon as she got up her leg was off the floor. She landed in the hard mud outside, poss even one of the slabs.
