How old is she? Graduate is usually used by people with youngish dogs\ bitches that still qualify for younger classes as well IME. Personally I always go for more than one class cos another class is always much cheaper or free compared to first class, and I would go for mid limit and limit (re: stud group band E) – but most people just do one. I just suggested limit re: eligibility to qual for next year again (unless Crufts qual is different in actually Crufts show classes to other Ch shows?).

When I was showing Dorain at 3yrs old at open shows, was told not to enter him in PG as people would wonder why he was in that class at that age and I should put him in open.  😉

Open shows are very different to champ shows and champ shows are very different from Crufts.
Unless you have a young dog that is looking for JW points there is not point in doing two classes you put yourself at risk of being beaten.
If you win the first class then only ge ta third in the second class you have knocked yourself out of the challenge and what for standing around in a ring as a seen dog.
IMO she is not ready for Limit far better to go in Mid Limit it always has less comp and no dogs with CC if you do limit you are up against the dogs sitting on 2CC plus
There is plenty of time to qualify next year the chances of a novice dog and handler winning a limit class at Crufts is remote but the chances of taking mid limit are well within Kodi scope

She’s 3 the day before the show, ooooo do I need to put that on the entry form! yes :-\
I’ve only been doing Graduate at shows, but did PG at Richmond only because there there wasnt a Grad class. I wont be putting her in Open! 😮 😀

Was just going to add there would be loads in Mid Limit wouldnt there, but read your reply first  Val
    🙂

Mid limit sounds okay if no CC winners in, dont really want to be up against them(no offence) but like Val says we’d stand a better chance at getting something then.

    Thanks :-*

Yes – not very Crufts experienced me which was why I meant to say check with Val and forgot  😀 – Duibh qualified both years he was entered in Ch Shows and therefore could, but only went to Crufts once – and I entered him in 2 classes – but he didn’t get placed in either.  😛 But remember getting a ticking off from breeder at the Ch Show he won JD (out of 10) for having him in Grad as well where he didn’t get placed so couldn’t go in for the challenge. But I didn’t really see the point anyway cos he obv wasn’t going to win anything in the challenge if he was going to get beaten by other dogs anyway. But that’s just how I think.  😀

The other reason you have to move to ML is the one that keeps beating you she may say in grad or PG so to jump to mid limit would be a good move also do your homework get the cato’s out look up how many and who has been in ML Crufts is a strange place to show who is the judge this year for bitches

Its Mr  Mullan, one of the ones who always beats us at opens is a dog, so thats handy, but the other lady(brown bitch) have beaten her once when I qualifed actually, but not seen her about much lately, saying that she’ll probably pop up at all the shows now this side of xmas 😀 If I see her I’ll ask her what she’s entering in >:D

will go look out cato’s out 🙂

I am dreading having to put Blu in a grown up boys class at Crufts 🙁  He just got into special puppy last year and was lucky to be placed.  Won’t be very hopefully this time round as there are millions of them in PG 🙁  Oh well, it’s all experience I suppose! :educated:

That’s the way that I think too, but others think it’s good just to be seen in the final line up.  🙂  I’d rather get 2nd in a good strong class than win a class full of rubbish, but that’s not what people who weren’t there see when they read the critique!  But if they know the dogs mentioned then they’ll know the good from the rubbish.  😉  A good dog will be eventually be noticed where ever it is and whoever owns it.

Exactly. The scary thing in his case was a) good class and b) breed specialist judge – who I would have hoped would have noticed back legs. Though have to say rest of him pretty good and he was showing his socks off that day.  ;D But it definitely wasn’t faciness (i am a ‘who’?) and I don’t think I can claim expert handling either!!  😀

But good dogs just do win through – depends on dog + judge on day.  🙂

Just had a look in the Crufts catalogue and it says : Yearling – For dogs of 12 and not exceeding 24 calendar months of age on 5th of March 2009.

Blu’s birthday is on 12th Feb so technically he still will be 24mths on the 7th March.  Am I able to get away with that or not ???

No – his birthday would have to be after the cut off date I think.  :-\
