Jay sounds like something we had happen, picked it up from some website without realising. It was a way of selling you virus protection it’s not windows but looks like it. You may be able to get rid if you take your computer back to a date before you started having problems, sorry not very good at explaining but son is at WORK, he has been on jobseekers for a year 😮

Sorry I’m busy packing so didn’t catch your post until now.

The pop ups are caused by sites you visit, they are fake and can be ignored as for using the restore disk there is no need and it won’t make any difference because if you visit the site that caused the pop ups again then guess what the pops ups will reappear.  :boooo:

Please don’t use system restore to “fix” things.
If you do have a virus get on your system it will more than likely sit in your system restore ’til you run it…it will then infect your whole system.
If your Spyware prog is logging the fake alerts & deleting them, then they are on your system. (if they were online online only they wouldn’t make the log)

    I’ve found Rogue remover… http://www.malwarebytes.org/rogueremover.php
To be the most effective removal tool around at the moment…it’s a free utility, just run it & follow the instructions.
