Here’s a few from todays hike.   We drove up north past Flesherton to Eugenia Falls. Never been there before but we’re off this week so we thought we’d have a day trip/ Was about 2 hours drive   including a pee break for Sadie, and coffee and butter tarts for us    Lovely day, sunny, no wind but quite cold  — only 2 degrees

Down the road a bit was a place called Hoggs Falls.  Unfortunately we didn’t get to explore this very much as 5 minutes after I took the following picture……………………………..

I fell off the cliff edge and fell 20 feet to the bank of the river below  :hurt:

Actually I got very lucky. I was moving to a spot to get a better picture of the falls when I slipped on the mud, tumbled backwards, bounced off the cliff face and landed on my back in a bunch of broken branches, Somehow missed the rocks.  Ended up with a cracked thumb, bruised thigh, a scratch on my face, bruised ribs and a badly wrenched neck.

All in all got away easy. Upset the wife and Sadie a great deal though .

J said she had enough time during the fall to say 3 OhMyGods before I hit bottom  :canadian:    Sadie was on lead at the time, in a sit, apparently as soon as I fell she jumped to attention and stared at J with a very concerened look. J quickly tied her to a tree, then came to help me. After I managed to climb out she was still sitting on high alert and cried and cried as I went over to hug her.  :-* :-*

Apparently I didn’t yell or swear on the way down ,, It’s quite remarkable how many things go through your head in such a short period of time

    very sore today  :hurt:

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I’ll be alright…not the first time I’ve fallen off a cliff  😀

I see it mentioned here a great deal but I’ve no idea what Arnica is

am taking Robax which takes the edge off so I can at least get moving and keep everything loose.  Besides, Sadie still needs her walk today  ;D

It really was a beautiful spot, definitely one we’ll return to in the future.

Very proud of Sadie and J, both kept their heads  :-*

Arnica Montana – to give it its proper name – is also known as Leopard’s Bane, mountain tobacco and sneezewort. Found mainly in the mountains of Europe and in Siberia, this homeopathic remedy is made from the dried roots or sometimes the dried flowers of the plant.

As a remedy, the most popular ways of using Arnica are either as a cream, which can be used on chilblains, sprains and bruises, or as a homeopathic remedy to help encourage recovery from injury or surgery. The remedies are available as pillules, small tablets that are placed on the tongue and sucked or chewed until they dissolve.

Arnica works by stimulating the activity of white blood cells which process congested blood, and by dispersing trapped fluids from joints and muscles and bumped and bruised tissue. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities and it is these that help to reduce pain and swelling as well as improving wound healing.

    🙂
