I’m so stupid ::)  Of course, it makes perfect sense!!  her breeding line is working on both sides.  Although we have not worked her properly, she did go out shooting rabbits with my husband and she would always be slightly ahead of him all the time.  She definatley has a strong instinct and it’s a shame we never trained her properly in gundog coz I think she would have done well. :-\

I am more than happy for her to walk slightly ahead, it was the pulling I could’nt stand 🙁

    Thanks so much Kiz….your a star ;D ;D

Your smileys still not working then ???!

Yeh, I did that, but there was nothing explaining what criteria 1,2 etc was? :-\

Did more lead work with Emmy today, went along the sea front, it was really nice.  Emmy was better, but she just cannot get to grips that she needs to be next to me when we walk :-\  When I stop, she knows exactly where to be but when we start, she doesn’t pull anymore but her idea of walking to heel is her back leg next to my heel! ::)

I pleased with her progress already seeing as we have only been doing it a few days but it is getting somewhat frustrating ???

Does anyone know how to get hold of the criteria for training? I tried to search on google but had no luck :-\

Yes, I do ‘leave it’ she responds well to that when she is off the lead.  Because I had a problem with her for a while with other large dogs after she was attacked 🙁  She would just run at them with a strange yelping noise.  She has done really well lately when I tell her ‘leave it’  it seems she is getting a bit more confidence back in her.

Still, it’s the GSD’s she can’t quite come to terms with so when in the field if I see one I either turn the way so she don’t see or call her back and put her on the lead.  Trouble is if I keep doing that how will I know she has got out of the habit? :-\

Thanx Kiz!  thre weeks huh :-\  Will stick to it….promise! 😉

I know what you mean about the harness and did feel a bit of a cheat and a cop out when I got it but it did save my aching extra long arms! ::)  She never pulls with hubby coz he always has the strength to stop her.

But now she is actually responding because I’m putting the effort in so will keep at it! ;D It does feel good when she responds (until she sees a cat, dog or park!)

I have been re-training Emmy on the lead.  Normally she has a Stop pull harness which was a doG send at the time of use.  But now she has her stitches under her arm and not allowed off the lead walks I have had to take for an hour walk around the streets on lead and collar.

Because she has clocked on that she only has a collar on she was an absolute nightmare!  I stuck to stopping and starting and apart from looking a donut!  it did get through to her (thank doG!)  I actually wanted to finally get her off her harness eventually but never got round to it :-[ so her having her stitches in has paid off for something I spose 😉

She still thinks she can pull at times, especially if she sees another dog or she knows she coming up to the park!  but apart from this it’s only been 3 days on the lead and she is starting to understand where she should be 🙂  Phew!! ;D

Thats very true, it shouldn’t be right to come under the same catagory as them 🙂

You must love your job very much 🙂  I know I would 🙂

    Here Here!

The sad thing is, it will never stop all the time there are people jumping in feet first and giving a reason for these barbarians to do what they do. :-\

Oh this is so sad :-\
I must admit though it was a bit silly to buy the pup like that.  We did ton of research on Weims before getting Emmy and it certainly pays to do this.  But, om the other hand, once you have the pup, it must feel awful to have to take it back to that horrilble place.

Would’nt they do something mean to it if they couldn’t sell it? ???

Is calling DOWN the same thing? When I want mine to stop where they are I call Down and they stay where they are until I go up to them to praise or put them on the lead.  🙂
